It now goes without saying that here is one of the most thoroughly-grounded, assured techniques among cellists. The pizzicato Scherzo was a tour-de-force of scarifying nerve, and those glissandos towards the end of the March were as firmly drawn and bitingly satirical as those on Rostropovich's classic recording."
